Meet the staff that supports Swedish Institute’s Medical Esthetics Program:
Michael Bottrill is the President and CEO of Swedish Institute Holdings. Michael earned his bachelor’s degree from Villanova University, with a double major in Finance and Accounting. He continued his studies in business management at Yale University, global business leadership at the University of Roehampton in London, and Insead University in Singapore.
Michael possesses over 25 years of experience in the field of operational and financial management and is an experienced leader in higher education. He served as CEO of SAE Institute North America, looking after eight Creative Media colleges in the U.S. and Canada. In 2017 and 2018 he served as the national representative for Private For-Profit Institutions as a Primary Negotiator with the US Department of Education working on rewriting regulations to help enhance and protect student experience. Michael joined Swedish Institute Holdings in July 2020. His mission as President and CEO is to educate our students to become skilled and ethical healthcare professionals, and to provide them with innovative learning that is designed to meet the needs of an ever-evolving market.
Kim graduated our sister school, Atelier Esthetique Institute of Esthetics in 2008. She is a licensed NYS medical Esthetician, certified NYS phlebotomist and certified NYS Esthetic Teacher. Kim has a long history of successfully training students via private Advanced Clinical Esthetic workshops and at Atelier Esthetique. Her background includes extensive experience in the development of sports medicine treatments which lead to skin treatments, owning/operating a NYC medical esthetic clinic, working with renowned NYC Plastic Surgeons and their elite clientele, and extensive Laser and Light treatment experience in the Operating Room. Kim also has 35 years of cumulative experience in Team Management, talent development, and continued support for success, along with new business development, high-end private brokering, and oncology skincare. Kim is a premier NYS Medical Esthetic teacher thanks to a lifelong passion, deep knowledge of esthetics, and her “paying it forward” teaching techniques.
Dr. Mihalcik holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry, received his medical degree from the University of Florida School of Medicine and completed his residency at NYU Medical Center. Dr. Mihalcik is a Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. Fellowship trained in Cardiac Anesthesiology/Chief Resident at New York University Medical Center. Experienced in both academic and private practice since 1985; actively practicing clinical Anesthesiology as managing partner of Anesthesia Associates of Park Avenue. Dr. Mihalcik has been married for 37 years with four grown children.
Tania joined Swedish Institute in October, 2013. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration in French from the College of the Holy Cross. Tania has over 20 years of experience in advertising, marketing and new business development. She has worked in proprietary education since 2003. At Swedish Institute she oversees Alumni Services and Continuing Education.
James comes to Swedish Institute Medical Esthetics from Atelier Esthétique, Swedish’s sister school and New York State licensed esthetics school. James has an associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy and has always been passionate about the healthcare/medical field. James has vast experience working in the customer service and hospitality industry. James’ passion for helping others and seeing others succeed, along with his experience in the esthetics industry, makes him a great addition to the SIME recruitment team.
Chelsea joined Swedish Institute in April 2019. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business with concentrations in marketing and finance from the University of Maine and an M.B.A. with a concentration in marketing and operations from Clemson University. Chelsea has over 15 years of experience in strategic planning, digital marketing, brand management, project management, accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis. She has worked in proprietary education for 6 years. At Swedish Institute, Chelsea has helped accelerate growth through launching new programs and growing the target audience and enrollments.
